What happens if I join and decide
not to invest during the year?
There is a price promise in place that would mean you
would receive back your fee less any commissions that
you may have received. If you received no commissions
at all you would receive your fee back in full.
As a single member can I register
investments in my partner’s name?
A single membership allows you to register investments
in your name only. If you want to register investments
in your partners name you would need to have the family
membership.
How do I receive the commission?
Where possible the commission is reinvested back in to
your investment to either reduce the charges or increase
the initial amount of the investment. For ongoing trail
commission we are unable to reinvest this so this will
be sent back to you by way of a cheque.
Do I have to contact the investment
companies for application forms?
If you already have an application form we are more than
happy to use that. If not you simply have to contact us
and we will forward the application form and details to
you by first class post.
Do I have to supply original documents
for Money Laundering purpose?
The rules insist that we see the originals and we can
therefore no accept photocopies. However we only need
to see them the once and will keep your details on file
to save you having to provide proof each time you invest.
Can I still make savings if I don’t
make any new investments this year?
Most definitely. Many of your investments may pay an ongoing
trail commission which we will be able to get back to
you. This trail commission is usually 0.5% of the fund
value and applies to most ISAs, PEPs, some Unit Trusts
and Investment Bonds and VCTs. In addition you may find
that we are able to make you savings on your existing
pension plans and regular saving schemes by getting the
ongoing commission reinvested. If in doubt please do not
hesitate to ask.
How does this service differ from
a usual discount broker?
There are many reasons which are better explained in our
company brochure which you can request from us in the
Contact Us section. In brief we give back all the commissions
rather than keeping a percentage of them making investing
cheaper. In addition the newsletters members receive are
totally impartial as we do not need to generate any income
from them. Therefore we are free to advise clients not
to invest if that is our view rather than always plugging
new funds. If we recommend a fund it is because we feel
it is a worthwhile fund for our clients and not because
we earn commission on it.
